Chapter Nominations

You are invited to participate in selecting our local AFP 2024 Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year. This award honors an individual or family, business, or foundation with a proven record of generosity who, through direct financial support, demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles.

If you have any problems submitting your nomination, please email Loren Leidinger (lleidinger@capslo.org) by midnight July 31st. We recommend writing your nomination in a personal word document then pasting into the nomination form. This will avoid any lost work due to refreshes or screen timeouts.

Award winners will be celebrated at this year's National Philanthropy Day celebration in November.

Awards

Nominations for philanthropist of the year will be accepted via the website nomination form.  At least one letter of recommendation from someone other than the nominator is required to be submitted with the nomination.  Award categories will be considered once the nomination deadline has closed.

Handling of past nominations

Previous nominations will be considered only if re-submitted.

Nominations committee

The nominations committee will be composed of former AFP board members NOT current members.

Who is eligible to receive an award?

Any resident of San Luis Obispo county who has made a deep commitment to support, more than one, nonprofit organization in the county.  A person or entity that gives the most money in dollars is not necessarily the only one eligible to be recognized.  Commitment to the community in addition to monetary donations could also include volunteer service and dedication.  Awards will not be given  posthumously unless someone representing the donor is still actively making gifts and involved with NPO’s in the community.

What does awardee receive?

Two tickets to the event and award.
